Hi there 😀

When I was a kid I hated reading. I continued to hate reading until I discovered that I could choose which book I wanted to read. I tried a lot of different types of books and I discovered some styles of books that I really enjoy.

This year I proposed a challenge to myself: 12 books in 12 months. The first book I read for this challenge was “Youth” from Isaac Asimov.

First, let’s talk a little bit about Asimov. His real name is Isaak Yudovich Ozimo, and he was an American author and professor of biochemistry at Boston University. He is considered a master of hard science fiction. He wrote more than 500 books and also received 14 honorary doctorate degrees from universities.

Here we go.

Youth is a short science fiction story written in 1952.

The story occurs in a super dense planet with conditions to support life. Two young kids of an intelligent specie find two creatures while they are playing. They decided not tell their parents about the creatures and use them as circus creatures.

Each chapter of the story is showing  the point of view from each pair of characters. The two creatures captured by the kids are space travelers that were involved in an accident before the kids found them. The father of one kid is an astronomer who is waiting for space travelers to bring knowledge.  The other father is an industrialist.

I will not tell you how this story ends, because it has a very special ending.

See yaa!
